Philosophy Statement:
It is our philosophy, in the Moss Point High School Counseling Department, that all students have equal access to a comprehensive school counseling program, and that this program serves as an integral piece of the overall educational experience. The MPHS Counseling Department believes that educational, career, and personal/social goals can be established and achieved by every Moss Point High School student. Essential to our philosophy, is the belief that collaboration between school counselors, educators, and parents will ensure that the needs and goals of every student are addressed so that each student can achieve success.
The counseling program at Moss Point High School will provide:
· Programming that is comprehensive and developmental in nature and tailored to the developmental, academic, and personal/social needs of every student.
· We are dedicated to meet the standards and addresses the competencies outlined in the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Model, including programming in the academic, personal/social and career education domains.
· A counseling staff that is attentive to and invested in the needs and personal/educational goals of all students.

The mission of the Moss Point High School Counseling and Guidance program is to provide support for student achievement as part of comprehensive guidance for all students. Counselors work in partnership with parents, teachers, administration, and community to help facilitate student development in education, social, personal, and career domains. Counseling services shall be provided in a safe and positive environment with a focus on promoting responsible, productive citizenship and academic achievement to support a successful transition from school to work.
